CPLP Cultural Event in Timor-Leste

The Government of Timor-Leste officially opened the Cultural Event of the Community of Portuguese Speaking Countries (CPLP) in Timor-Leste, which took place this June in Dili, with a book fair, workshops, a symposium, and a musical concert.

The Foreign Minister, Zacarias Albano da Costa, recalled, “Timor-Leste celebrates its tenth Independence anniversary, as well as the Country’s anniversary of formally integrating the CPLP. Timor-Leste will assume the rotating presidency of the CPLP, from 2014 to 2016. It is important that the people in general and students in particular, know more about the CPLP, what opportunities it may offer, what benefits, and how can Timor-Leste contribute to the organization, to which we belong, so that we may grow, and be more knowledgeable about the organization and take the best advantage as a member.

Present at the official opening of the Cultural Event of CPLP were the members of Government, the Portuguese Ambassador in Timor-Leste, the General-Director of the Ministry of Education and students from primary schools, secondary schools and from university.

The event was closed with the performance of Tabanka Djaz, a music band from Guinea-Bissau.
