The Government, through the Secretary of State of the Council of Ministers (SoSCM), Agio Pereira, signed on March 13, with the President of the Board of Directors of Radio and Television of Timor-Leste, Public Company (RTTL, E.P.), Expedito Dias Ximenes, a concession agreement that aims to strengthen the obligations of RTTL with regard to information and programming.
“The conclusion of this contract is the final legal instrument that the Government presents to the RTTL, E.P. The Government will also provide guidelines regarding advertising that can be permitted in the future in order to raise capital. This concession is an agreement between the governing bodies of RTTL, EP, with full respect for their autonomy, and is also a partnership in which the Government, on behalf of the State, delivers the management to a State agency, in this case, to RTTL, E.P. which strengthens State “, said Agio Pereira.
The Secretary of State of Council of Ministers asserted that this was “a simple celebration but very relevant to national development”.
The President of the Board of Directors of RTTL, E.P. Expedito Dias Ximenes, said “the importance of RTTL as a public company, according to the Decree-Law 42/2008, which is transforming the RTTL public service broadcasting in to a public company, and despite the t RTTL not yet having sufficient conditions to meet the requirements of the this law, thanks the Government, particularly the organ that supervises the RTTL, because little by little we are gaining the ability to meet the expectations of viewers”.
