The Secretary of State for Professional Training and Employment, Bendito Freitas, together with the Director of Human Resources Development Service of Korea, Kim Suk Ho, and the Director of Employment, Paulo Alves, attended on February 24, the farewell ceremony of over 121 Timorese who will work in South Korea
These Timorese will work in areas such as agriculture, fisheries and industry and it is expected that the first group, composed of 45 people, will depart on March 5.
Bendito Freitas highlighted the importance of cooperation with South Korea in the areas of economic development and training of Timorese workers.
The SEFOPE (Secretariat of State for Professional Training and Employment) has fostered cooperation between the two countries in order to tackle unemployment, provide technical training and develop the personal and professional skills of the Timorese workforce.
At the same occasion, the Secretary of State announced by the end of the year SEFOPE intends to send around 500 more Timorese workers to South Korea as the processes and structures have now been established.
