On January 11, the Vice Prime Minister, José Luís Guterres and the Secretary of State for Defence, Júlio Tomás Pinto, accompanied by other members of the Government, visited the new building of the Ministry of Defense and the Headquarters F-FDTL in Fatuhada, Díli.

Júlio Tomás Pinto said that “the process of constructing and building of the Ministry of Defense and the F-FDTL Headquarters has reached ninety-five percent completion. At this point we are still awaiting the construction of the garden and the completion of some electrical installations, so that, according to the people in charge, delivery may be made in the month of March.

According to José Luís Guterres “it has been a long time, more than ten years, since our Defence and Security Forces, including the Ministry of Defence and Security, have not had an appropriate facility to work as mandated to the two institutions, by the Constitution.. Today, we have come here to observe it and in March this year the Government of China will deliver the building to us”.

The Major-General Lere Anan Timur mentioned that “the building of the Ministry of Defence and Security and the F-FDTL headquarters have an international quality and therefore we must also  thank the Government of China for that”.
