Council of Ministers Meeting from January 4, 2012

The Council of Ministers met this Wednesday, January 4, 2012, in the Council of Ministers Meeting Room, at the Government Palace, in Díli and approved:

1. Performance of the holders of senior positions

Following the fourth national meeting of the holders of leadership positions, which brought together General Directors, Administration and Finance Directors and Procurement Department Heads, as well as members of the Government, at the Convention Center in Díli on December 16 last, to discuss ethics and professionalism in the public sector, the Council of Ministers heard the Chief of Staff of the Ministry of Finance and the Director of the Treasury for a detailed examination on the performance of holders of senior positions during the year 2011, and prepare work for 2012.

2. Delivery of humanitarian assistance to Thailand and the Philippines

The Council of Ministers also received the Ambassador of the Philippines, Maria Aileen H. Bugarin, and the Ambassador of Thailand, Suraphan Boonyamanop, to express the support of Timor-Leste for the situation that is lived in these two countries due to the floods that have affected millions of people and caused huge material losses.

The Council of Ministers, in a gesture of brotherhood and solidarity with the two countries gave each of the ambassadors a check for $ 750,000 American dollars in order to alleviate the difficulties caused by those natural disasters.
