The Ministry of Health organized, on November 19, in the CNE lounge, the graduation ceremony and oath of the students of medicine, nursing and obstetrics.
The graduation was attended by 54 graduate students in Hippocratic Medicine, 36 graduates in General Medicine Care, 37 graduates in a Bachelor of Nursing and 127 with a bachelor’s degree in obstetrics.
“Today is a special day, and of great pride for all of us since the Ministry of Health notes the graduation of the students in nursing and obstetrics in Timor-Leste”, said the Minister of Health, Nelson Martins.
“The graduation means the recognition of the capacity of our Timorese citizens to take on positions as educators and servers in their own country, as well as it represents an increase in the number of health professionals, ready to provide services at any time”, he added.
The Rector of UNTL, Aurélio Guterres, in his speech, spoke of the insertion of the newly graduated within the community, noting that it leaves the door open for any them who is willing to continue their studies and take a master or doctorate course”. Several academic challenges have been overcome, another challenge remains for you: to live integrated in society”, Aurélio Guterres said.
Present at the ceremony were the Minister of Health, Nelson Martins, and the Rector of UNTL, Aurélio Guterres, the Vice-Minister of Education, Paulo Assis Belo, the former Prime Minister, Mari Alkatiri, the former Vice Minister of Health Luís Lobato, the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, Dr. João Martin, representatives of the diplomatic corp, members of the UNTL and relatives of the graduates.
