SoSPE signs the Woman’s Political Platform for the 2012-2017 Elections

The Secretary of State for the Promotion of Equality (SoSPE) and the Organization of Women in Political Parties signed, on 22 November in the New Delta lounge, the Woman’s Political Platform for the Legislative Elections.

Idelta Rodrigues, Secretary of State for the Promotion of Equality, said that this platform connects women with seven specific areas: education, economy, health, politics, justice, peace, security and media. She also informed that this constitutes one of the several SEPI initiatives, in conjunction with the Women’s Organization and civil society, on the issue of women’s participation in political life, especially during the demonstration of democracy, expressed through the presidential and legislative elections.

“My gratitude for services rendered during the two months of preparation of the plan which covers the 22 parties that, although some of them absent, always contributed with their opinions, confirming their acceptance of this final plan, whose signature is, for all of us , witnessed as a Women’s political platform”, Idelta Rodrigues said.

The Secretary of State added that this is not the first time that this platform is signed, since it has also been signed in 2007, whereas now there’s a readjustment, given the current situation, which includes various changes arising from the agreement between the twenty-two parties.

“My expectation is that this initiative will be known by the chairmen of the parties, so that they know the structure of the Platform on Women in Political Parties, and that there be no neglect, hiding its existence, without initiatives for change. Change comes from the commitment of all women, to attract the attention of men so as to join us in consolidating our efforts”, said the Secretary of State for the Promotion of Equality.
