The Ministry of Tourism, Comerce and Industry (MoTCI), through the Economic and Food Inspection (IAE), organized, on October 10, at the Convention Center in Díli, an awareness campaign concerning Law No4/2011, which regulates the Hoarding and Speculation Crime, and Decree-Law No29/2011, which regulates Fair Price, both endorsed by the Council of Ministers and promulgated by the President.
The Director-General of MTCI, Manuela Georgina Corte Real, highlighted the need to clarify these two diplomas in order to raise awareness among businesspersons and traders regarding their contents so there are no doubts when the laws are implemented.
Addressing the participants, the Director-General explained that this activity reflects the competence of the Government, as well as its obligation to direct and regulate such economic activity and the social sector and also to protect consumers, while avoiding harming both sides.
Florentina Smith, the IAE Inspector-General, urged businesspersons, traders, importers, wholesalers and retailers to take advantage of this opportunity and get acquainted with the two diplomas, thereby avoiding the application of sanctions by the authority, which occurs when the law is not applied.
The Decree-Law on Fair Price has the objective to establish the forms of intervention by the Public Administration, concerning the establishment of prices, facilitating the regulation of prices for goods and services considered essential to the welfare of the population while contributing to social and economic justice for the families.
Businesspersons, merchants and public servants attended the event.
