Timor-Leste, through the Secretariat of State for Youth and Sports, signed an Agreement with the Cuba National Institute of Sport, Physical Education and Recreation, on cooperation in sport. Miguel Manetelo, Secretary of State with the responsibility in this area, went to Cuba in September to sign an agreement that aims at strengthening technical cooperation and sport interactions to achieve a higher level of sports development in both countries .

This Agreement predicts the exchange of athletes and teams to participate in bilateral and multilateral competitions, held in Timor-Leste and Cuba, as well as officials, coaches and experts in the field of Physical Education, Sport and Applied Sciences.

The Secretary of State for Youth and Sports and the Cuba National Institute of Sport, Physical Education and Recreation made a commitment to help raise the level of sport in the following areas: organization of programs, sports information, sports facilities and equipment , training of trainers and specialists, sports medicine and administration, fight against doping and media in sporting events.
