SoSYS and Real Madrid Foundation Sign Agreement to create social and sports schools

The Secretary of State for Youth and Sport, Miguel Manetelu, signed on September 20, an agreement with Real Madrid Foundation with the purpose of creating social and sports schools in Timor-Leste.

This Agreement meets the program of the Secretariat of State for Youth and Sport (SoSYS) as it seeks to promote sport among children and young people, by understanding that this contributes to the integral development of their personality, offers positive alternatives for leisure and encourages healthy lifestyles.

Therefore, by sharing the same objectives, social and sport schools will have students, boys and girls aged 6 to 17 years, most of which come from poor socio-economic environments. Initially, three schools are planned to be constructed: Díli, Baucau and Maliana.

Among other things, it’s up to the SoSYS to provide the facilities for the practice of sport and other social and cultural activities, ensuring their maintenance and management. The Real Madrid Foundation will contribute with the teaching materials, assist in organizing training activities and socio-cultural activities for the school monitors.
