MoSS received office and audiovisual equipment

On September 22, the Ministry of Social Solidarity (MoSS) received, from the International Organization for Migration (IOM), audiovisual and office equipment such as chairs, tables, cabinets, Macintosh computers, printers, camcorders, digital cameras and motorbikes.

It is recalled that the International Organization for Migration is an MSS development partner for programs outlined by it, particularly programs related to the reintegration of displaced persons and victims of natural disasters.

The Minister of Social Solidarity, Maria Domingas Alves, highlighted that “this initiative from the IOM has to do with the successes recorded by the MSS in the program of reintegration of displaced persons.”

“Since the beginning of the reintegration process in 2007 to its end in 2010, we went through a difficult time with this program that not only took care of the reintegration and the closure of the camps where displaced persons were, but also other compensations. It was a relatively complex process that, in addition to the community project of sanitation, drinking water, mini-stadium, streets, community training and activity centers, had the concern of the reintegration of displaced persons and neighborhood residents” said the Minister.

The Head of IOM Timor-Leste, Norberto Celestino, noted that “the delivery of this equipment has to do with the agreement reached between the MSS and the IOM, to develop the process of displaced people reintegration in their location of residence and producing a soap opera named “Suku Hali” to demonstrate the ability of the Timorese in the edition of soap operas”.

The Secretary of State for Social Assistance and Natural Disasters, Jacinto Rigoberto Gomes de Deus, the Director-General of the MSS, Eugénio João Amado de Maria Soares, the Directors and Heads of Department of the Ministry were present at this ceremony.
