The Ministry of Tourism, Commerce and Industry, through the National Directorate of Tourism, and supported by the company Câmara Enterprise, inaugurated, on August 26th , the “2011 Sunset Fair” at Cristo Rei in Díli.
The Fair takes place every Friday, from 5 p.m.to 10 p.m. until December and offers a variety of gastronomy, crafts and folklore presentations which aims to promote the creativity of local products and their promotion.
For the Director of Tourism, José Dias Quintas, taking into account the importance of the tourism sector in the country with regards to the increase in state revenues, this activity will support the private sector in attracting tourists and its own development.
According to the head of the National Directorate of Transport, a path for Microletes (type of bus) will be allowed within the route Bidau-Cristo Rei, in order to facilitate the visitor’s transport to the fair, and the taxis to transport visitants at night. There will be a regulation to establish rules of public passengers and vehicles, by the use of tickets. According to the regulation, which is being discussed, public transport only have access to the Areia Branca area in order to avoid traffic jams.
“The success of this event depends on the collaboration between the National Directorate of Tourism, Ministry of Culture, the Timor-Leste National Police, the National Directorate of Transport, Telecommunications and Civil Security”, defended José Dias Quintas.
