Ministry of Infrastructures acquires new Heavy Equipment

The Vice-Minister of Infrastructures, José Manuel Carrascalão, received heavy equipment for road widening projects in the districts of Manatuto, Baucau and Viqueque. The six garbage trucks, three water tanks and three backhoes were acquired by the Institute of Equipment Management (IEM) through a public tender launched in 2010, costing about $ 9 million american dollars.

The Vice-Minister of Infrastructures urged operators to make good use of this new State equipment, noting that “the mandate of the Parliamentary Majority Alliance Government ends in about a year, but you, operators, will continue, and should show your professionalism”.

The Director of IME, Rui Hernâni, said that they are yet to receive some equipment, of the total that was initially commissioned. This equipment was requested to cover urgent work to develop the heavy oil project in the area of Manatuto, Baucau and Viqueque.
