The Timor-Leste National Directorate for Civil Protection (NDPCP), under the Secretariat of State for Security (SoSS) celebrated, on April 23, the Fire Fighters’ 11th Anniversary at the Fire Brigade Headquarters in Caicoli in Díli.
“The Fire Brigade exercises its functions in 4 areas: fire extinction, emergency services, castaway rescue services and community assistance, such as tree felling, water supply to people in need and support to traffic accidents” highlighted the NDPCP Director, Domingos Pinto.
The Director also said that the efforts developed by the Fire Brigade, although with limited equipment, have been noted. He recognizes that there is a lot to be done but with commitment will go on to exercise his functions in the best way, such as, for example, the assistance system to the community.
Throughout 11 years, the Fire Brigade settled in 6 districts: Díli, Baucau, Maliana, Aileu, Oe-Cusse Ambeno and Manufahi. The future Fire Fighters barracks is being prepared in Covalima.
