Agio Pereira, Minister of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, met with Hugo Maria Fernandes, Executive Director of the Chega! National Centre I.P., and members of the Working Group on the National Reparations Process, to review ongoing work on policies for reparations to victims of human rights violations and on the national reconciliation process. 

The Chega! National Centre I.P. is a public institute established by Decree-Law No. 48/2016, with the mission to preserve the memory of the past and promote human rights by implementing the recommendations of the Commission for Reception, Truth, and Reconciliation (CAVR – acronym in Portuguese) and the Commission for Truth and Friendship (CVA – acronym in Portuguese).

During the meeting, a presentation was given on the work carried out in the first quarter, including public consultations on the draft policy and legislation in this area, which were held in the municipalities of Dili, Aileu, Bobonaro, and Viqueque.
