20 Timorese graduate on Sanitation Management and Water Supply, in Surabaya

On Wednesday, April 6, in Hotel Timor, the Secretary of State for Electricity, Water and Urbanization, Januário Pereira, received, twenty Timorese that have recently graduated in the Surabaya Institute of Technology (SIT). The graduates, 16 public servants from the National Direction for Water and Sanitation Services (NDWSS) and 4 national NGO’s representatives, studied Sanitation Management and Water Supply for Rural Areas. The Australian Government, through the BESIK Assistance Program, offered the course scholarships.

In the ceremony, Januário Pereira manifested his satisfaction with the fact that, after a 2 year period, these Timorese, have concluded the course: “I expect that you can respond to the needs that you will face in the ground, even if you find many obstacles and challenges”. The Secretary of State, in the name of the Government, thanked the Australian Government’s financial support, through the BESIK Assistance Program, enhancing that the program is essential for Timor-Leste’s national development.

These graduates will exercise their functions in the 13 districts.

The ceremony counted with the presence of the Secretary of State for Electricity, Water and Urbanization, Januário Pereira, the General Director of the Cooperative Services from the Ministry of Infrastructures, José Mestre, The General Director of the Secretariat from the Public Service Commission, Abel Fátima, the National Director of DNSAS, João Jerónimo, the Australian Government representative, Jeff Prime and the responsible for the BESIK Assistance Program, Keryn Clark.
