The IV Constitutional Government of Timor-Leste has decided to concede the day-off on the 9th March 2011, Ash Wednesday, for the whole day, to all staff and agents of the Ministries or dependent services, as well as the institutes and organisms integrated in the indirect administration of the State.
This decision is based on Law no. 10/2005, of the 10th of August, which establishes the legal framework for holidays, official commemorative dates and days-off, and is taken due to the fact that Ash Wednesday is one of the important dates of great importance amongst the Christian community.
Taking this into account, the Government feels that it must give a day-off on March 9th.
