The Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries (Portuguese acronym MAP), through the National Directorate for Forestry, will celebrate the National Day for Reforestation by planting trees in 13 districts, species such as sandalwood, mahoni (a type of tree belonging to the agiospermae family – plants with flower), saria (type of tree whose wood is light and odorous, used for boat construction), kakeu (casuarina), teka and white teka (heavy wood tree, often used in carpentry work) and cashew-tree. A total of 29 hectares of land are prepared for the plantation of the 60 000 trees.
