5 more Timorese workers go to the South Korea

“The IV Constitutional Government, through the Secretariat of State for Professional Training and Employment (Portuguese acronym SEFOPE), in collaboration with the Ministry of Work from South Korea, assists the recruitment of timorese workers to work in South Korea” highlighted the Secretary of State for Professional Training and Employment, Bendito Freitas, in the SEFOPE building in Caicoli, during the farewell ceremony of the 20th Group of Workers that leave to South Korea.

This group is composed by 5 elements (four men and one women), that will develop their work in the manufacturing industry and fisheries sectors.

“To the workers, I ask for a good service, to show to the international community, in particularly the Korean community, that the Timorese also adopt the culture of responsibility and discipline when exercising their functions” said Bendito Freitas.

The Secretary of State also emphasized that “in case serious issues are raised in the work place or the community, you should inform the Work Attaché, Frederico Ferreira Matos, of the Timor-Leste Embassy in South Korea or the Cary Centre, which has been working with the Timor-Leste Government through the SEFOPE and the South Korean Ministry for Work”.

The South Korean Ambassador, in his intervention, referred to the big challenge that the workers will face due to the cultural and weather difference, also asking them “to make an effort in learning the language and the Korean culture, which can avoid possible misunderstandings with the local workers and the employers”.
