Timor-Leste participates in the 17th edition of the Cultural Week of China and Portuguese-Speaking Countries, organized by the Permanent Secretariat of Forum Macao, which runs from September 26th to November 18th, 2025. Under the theme ‘Three Cities · Cultural Resonance: Maximizing the Synergistic Effects of Sino-Lusophone Cultural Brands’, this edition will be held for the first time in three locations — Macao, Zhongshan (Guangdong Province) and Beijing — expanding the scale of the event and the scope of Sino-Lusophone cultural cooperation.
The Cultural Week is part of the Macao Forum’s Action Plan for Economic and Trade Cooperation and highlights Macao’s role as ‘One Platform, One Base’, connecting the East and the West, promoting cultural exchange, mutual understanding and closer ties between people.

This year, Timorese representation will include the band Salurik, which will perform in Macau, Zhongshan and Beijing, and the artisan Joaquim Surameli, a Timorese sculptor who will present his works at the Fisherman’s Wharf Handicraft Fair in Macau.
The Cultural Week program includes music and dance performances, a craft fair, food demonstrations, audiovisual exhibitions, book launches, art exhibitions, workshops and interactive activities. The opening ceremony will be held on September 26th at the Fisherman’s Wharf in Macao, bringing together artistic groups from China and Portuguese-speaking countries. END
