Extraordinaire meeting of the Council of Ministers of 24th of January of 2011

The Council of Ministers met extraordinarily this Monday, 24th of January of 2011, in the Meeting Room of the Council of Ministers, in the Government Palace, in Díli, and approved:

1. Resolution that approves the Finance Aid to Brazil due to floods and landslides

Following the floods and landslides that are affecting Brazil in a devastating way, specially the highland region of Rio de Janeiro – having been, considered already the biggest natural disaster occurred in Brazil – the Council of Ministers, in an act of solidarity, fraternity and support towards the Brazilian people and authorities, approved the attribution of 500 thousand American dollars in financial aid, to help to overcome the human and material loss.

2. Resolution that approves the Financial Aid to Sri Lanka due to floods

The Council of Ministers, in an act of solidarity, fraternity and support towards the Sri Lanka people and authorities, approved the attribution of 500 thousand American dollars in financial aid to help to overcome the human and material loss registered in that country due to flooding that has already caused the displacement of more than 1 million people.

3. Appointment of the Government Representatives for the Opinion Council of the Radio and Television of Timor-Leste, E.P.

Guilherme da Silva e Paula Rodrigues were appointed Government representatives for the Radio and Television of Timor-Leste, E.P (RTTL, E.P.) Opinion Council, with a mandate of four years.

According to the RTTL, E.P. statutes, the Opinion Council has, as its main responsibility, to consult and express their opinion on the annual and pluriannual activity and financial plans, as well as on expenditure and investment budgets and accounting documents.

4. Proposal for a Timor-Leste delegation for bilateral meetings with the Holy See

The Council of Ministers approved the Timor-Leste delegation composition that will participate in the bilateral meetings with the Holy See to discuss the Concordat Project that is being developed between both parties. The delegation is composed of four members from the Government, namely:

  1. Zacarias Albano da Costa, Minister of Foreign Affairs
  2. Lúcia Lobato, Minister of Justice
  3. João Câncio Freitas, Minister of Education
  4. Domingas Fernandes, Minister of Social Solidarity
