Timor-Leste Attends 18th Session of UN Convention on Rights of Persons with Disabilities

The Vice-Minister of Social Solidarity and Inclusion, Céu Brites, is officially representing the State of Timor-Leste at the 18th Session of the Conference of State Parties (COSP18) to the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD), which takes place at the United Nations headquarters in New York from June 10th to 12th 2025. The central theme of this year’s event is ‘Strengthening public awareness of the rights and contributions of people with disabilities to social development, in preparation for the World Social Summit’. The Timorese delegation has the support of the Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Dionísio da Costa Babo Soares, the Deputy Permanent Representative, Jesuíno de Oliveira Alves, and Counsellor Licínio M. Branco. The Vice-Minister is also accompanied by members of her staff and the National Director for the Promotion of Persons with Disabilities, among other representatives from the Ministry of Social Solidarity and Inclusion.
