The Ministry of State Administration, through the Secretary of State for Local Development, Mateus dos Santos Tallo, officially launched the “Assessment of Municipal Resources and Capacity” report. The ceremony, held at the National Electoral Commission building (CNE, portuguese acronym), was attended by the Vice-Prime Minister, Coordinating Minister for Social Affairs and Minister for Rural Development and Community Housing, Mariano Assanami Sabino, as well as various government bodies and municipal representatives.
In the opening of the event, the Vice-Prime Minister highlighted the importance of this report for the development of rural areas, in line with the municipal development plan already drawn up, by providing tools to improve the management of local resources. Mariano Assanami Sabino also highlighted three essential aspects of good municipal management: managing human resource capacity, financial resource capacity and planning capacity.
In his speech, the Secretary of State for Local Development (SEDL, portuguese acronym), Mateus dos Santos Tallo, explained that the data presented was collected throughout 2024 by the team from his office. The compilation of this information aims to support community leaders in drawing up community development plans, in order to promote the involvement of the population in identifying challenges, setting targets and implementing strategies to improve the economic, social and environmental conditions of communities.
The report covers a wide range of strategic areas, including education, health, transportation, local production, agriculture, infrastructure, tourism and electricity. This data will serve as a basis for setting priorities and more effective planning of government interventions, strengthening the work of municipal authorities and community leaders.
The ceremony was also attended by the Secretary of State for Toponymy and Urban Organization Affairs, Germano Santa Brites, the Secretary of State for Forests, Fernandino Vieira da Costa, the Presidents of Municipal Authorities, Administrators of Administrative Posts, Heads of Sucos, as well as representatives of various ministries and government bodies.
