Vice Minister for Parliamentary Affairs strengthens bilateral ties on official visit to Cape Verde’s National Assembly

The Vice Minister for Parliamentary Affairs, Adérito Hugo da Costa, is on an official visit to the Republic of Cape Verde. He was welcomed for a bilateral meeting with the Minister of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers and Parliamentary Affairs of Cape Verde, Janine Lélis, followed by a courtesy visit to the President of the National Assembly, Austelino Correia.  Vice Minister for Parliamentary Affairs strengthens bilateral ties on official visit to Cape Verdes National Assembly

During the meeting with Minister Janine Lélis, topics of great relevance to both nations were discussed, emphasising strengthening bilateral relations, cooperation between parliaments, and the exchange of experiences in governance and good legislative practices. The Minister emphasised the importance of enhancing parliamentary ties between Timor-Leste and Cape Verde within the Community of Portuguese-Speaking Countries (CPLP), stressing the need for a joint agenda focused on sustainable development, transparency and good governance.

Adérito Hugo da Costa expressed Timor-Leste’s commitment to intensifying collaboration with Cape Verde, particularly in areas of mutual interest, and emphasised the role of parliaments in promoting public policies that directly benefit the populations of both countries. “Timor-Leste and Cape Verde share historical and cultural values, and we are determined to strengthen cooperation at parliamentary and governmental level for the well-being of our peoples”, said the Vice Minister.  Vice Minister for Parliamentary Affairs strengthens bilateral ties on official visit to Cape Verdes National Assembly

Following the meeting, the Vice Minister was welcomed by the President of Cape Verde’s National Assembly, Austelino Correia. Both reaffirmed the two countries’ commitment to maintaining a constant and constructive dialogue, highlighting the role of parliamentary institutions in strengthening democracy and supporting joint initiatives within the CPLP. President Austelino Correia expressed his satisfaction with the visit and reiterated Cape Verde’s support for Timor-Leste’s continued development, emphasising the strengthening of relations between the two countries.

The Vice Minister’s official agenda also includes visiting the Information Society Operational Centre (NOSI), a public company that develops digital transformation solutions for the public and private sectors.
