The Ministry of State Administration and Territorial Planning (Portuguese acronym MAEOT), through the Secretariat of State for Administrative Reform (Portuguese acronym SERA), held, on September 23rd, a Farewell Ceremony for 4 civil servants that will benefit from a scholarships in a Master of Rural Development, in an Indonesian University (Sekolah Tinggi Pembangunan Masyarat Desa) in Yogyakarta, that will start in the school year of 2010-2011.
Of the four beneficiaries, two are MAEOT civil servants, another from the Office of the State General Inspection and another from the Ministry of Education. The four scholarship holders should leave for Indonesia on September 27th to study for two years.
The Secretary of State for Administrative Reform, Florindo Pereira, noted in his speech “that the scholarship holders should seriously dedicate themselves to the studies and opt for good behaviour so they can conclude their course in time”.
“If they don’t conclude the course within two years, the scholarship holders will become responsible for their own studies, since the scholarship sum is already calculated accordingly. In addition, the exemption given from the Government for the civil servants to leave for study purposes doesn’t mean that when they conclude their studies they have to assume a Director’s post and/or leadership posts. These positions represent the commitment and the initiative towards the development of the State institutions, as well as the trust of their hierarchical superior”, explained Florindo Pereira.
In this ceremony, the scholarship holders declared they accepted the opportunity and the trust given to them and made a commitment to conclude the Masters in the maximum period of two years, trying to keep themselves faithful to their commitments and obedient to the rules recommended to them. The scholarship holders also noted that they accepted the sum ($4.500), fixed by the Government, for the expenses and reinforced that, concluding the course, they will return to the country to fulfil their duties as civil servants.
