The RTTL Transmission Centre was inaugurated in Ainaro

The Ainaro district Radio and Television Transmission Centre was inaugurated on September the 17th, with the presence of the Secretary of State of the Council of Ministers, Ágio Pereira and the President of the National Parliament.

Fernando “La Sama” de Araújo emphasized the Government’s commitment in the repair of the RTTL, EP infrastructures in all the districts, which will allow all the population to keep informed about national development. Born in Ainaro, the President of the National Parliament said he was proud with this inauguration, one that reflects progress and allows that the population may start to listen to radio in good conditions and watch television without resorting to a satellite dish. “The information transmitted by radio and television will allow the population to follow the Government’s activities closely and to view our discussions in the National Parliament, transmitted live. This means that all can keep up with the development process that is going on in our Country”, stated the President of the Parliament, “La Sama” de Araújo.

Ágio Pereira, Secretary of State of the Council of Ministers, pointed out that fact that the Transmission Centre will benefit the circa 63 thousand people that live in the Ainaro district. “This is a great challenge for RTTL” said the Secretary of State, adding that “besides good infrastructures there must be a strong institutional structure. The transmission can be good, but if the information doesn’t have quality, the infrastructure ceases to make sense. The Alliance of Parliamentary Majority IV Constitutional Government considers access to the information as a priority issue. The information represents. democracy’s “blood flow”. Democracy only can be developed when information arrives to the people and the people, in turn is able to deliver information to the Government. It is in this way that democracy progresses”, concluded the Secretary of State of the Council of Ministers.

The construction of the Transmission Centre building in the Ainaro cost to the State 120,821 american dollars. The construction works began in 2009, by the Ailora Entreprise.The land plot was offered by the Manutasi suco population.

Besides the Secretary of State of the Council of Ministers and the President of the National Parliament, present at the inauguration were also the President of the RTTL, EP Administrative Council, Expedito Dias Ximenes, RTTL directors and staff and the Ainaro Administrator, Manuel Pereira, together with the local authorities.
