On July 1st 2024, the Minister of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, Agio Pereira, met with a group of national doctors at the Government Palace. The meeting aimed to discuss the doctors’ concerns and suggestions regarding the current state of the health sector in Timor-Leste. 

The doctors presented a detailed diagnosis of the sector and recommended various measures to improve the quality of healthcare services.

Minister Agio Pereira expressed his support for the proposed initiatives, highlighting the importance of a reform plan for the sector and the creation of a medical chamber. He also noted the evolution of the healthcare system since 2002, acknowledging the need for interventions to enhance healthcare delivery and ensure public confidence in the national health system.
