Ivo Valente takes office as Vice Minister of Justice

Ivo Valente was appointed as Vice Minister of Justice, by the President of the Republic, José Ramos-Horta, on the 1st of September, at the Presidential Palace, in Díli.

Taking into account the work volume in the Ministry of Justice, the Prime Minister of the IV Constitutional Government, Kay Rala Xanana Gusmão, proposed the name of Ivo Valente to be appointed as Vice Minister of Justice, to take care of the administrative area of that ministry.

The newly appointed Ivo Valente, in he’s speech, noted that he’s ready to assume the new responsibilities based on his experience and, with the support of the civil society and of the ministerial civil servants, committed to guaranty the good progress of all the services.

Lúcia Lobato, in her role as Minister of Justice, pointed out: “I feel happy with this appointment and thus support this Ministry’s services, with special attention on the Administrative services”.

The Ministry, also pointed out that all services connected to the administration of her ministry will be under the Vice-Minister’s responsibility, in terms of the public servants’ functions, correspondence of relevant letters and signatures, including the agreements connected to projects organized by the Procurement Department of the Ministry of Justice.

On the same occasion the President of the Republic, José Ramos-Horta, considered that “with the presence of Ivo Valente, as Vice Minister of the Ministry of Justice, the services of that institution will be strengthened as well as the organization of certain activities that are still to be concluded”.
