On March 27th, 2024, the Council of Ministers decided to approve contract addendums for the extension of the construction and supervision period of the project to improve and maintain the road between Baucau and Venilale and for the construction of a further 2.5 km of road in the project to rehabilitate and maintain district roads between Bazartete and Tokoluli.
In the road improvement and maintenance project in Lot 2: Venilale—Viqueque (Sta 27+120 – 62’010), the contractual deadline for construction will be extended to June 29th, 2025, and the deadline for supervising the work will be extended to June 30th, 2025. This will entail an additional cost in the contract value of around US$903 thousand.
Regarding the project to rehabilitate and maintain district roads on the stretch between Bazartete and Tokoluli (Sta. 16+02 – Sta. 32+045), the approved addendum will allow the construction of another 2.5 km of road, which will entail an additional cost of US$ 1.55 million and the extension of the contractual term by 184 days.
Recognising that the construction and maintenance of a range of productive infrastructures is a central pillar of the Strategic Development Plan, which will sustain productivity, job creation and the development of the private sector at the national level, the Government reaffirms its commitment to continue implementing a comprehensive road infrastructure plan in line with international quality and safety standards.
