The Minister of National Liberation Combatants Affairs, Gil da Costa Monteiro “Oan Soru”, launched the Combatants’ Consultation Website on February 27th, 2024. On the same occasion, scholarship applications were opened for the children of combatants and martyrs for the 2024 academic year. The ceremony took place in the Aisirimou Hall, at the headquarters of the Council of National Liberation Combatants (CCLN), in the presence of the Secretary of State for Veterans, César dos Santos da Silva “Merak”, and the National Director for Pensions and Survival, Manuel dos Santos Araújo, and the 2nd Vice-President of the CCLN, Nicolau dos Reis. The Combatants’ Consultation Website can be accessed at https://macln.net/.
This website aims to simplify access to the Ministry of National Liberation Combatants’ Affairs services, allowing veterans and their families to consult their data easily and efficiently without the need to travel to Dili. In addition to information on National Liberation Combatants, the website includes information on legislation, forms, and notices.
On March 26th and 27th, members of the Council of National Liberation Combatants from all municipalities, including the RAEOA, will receive training on using the Website and consulting their data.
During the ceremony, Minister Gil da Costa Monteiro “Oan Soru” highlighted the importance of this website as a fundamental tool for providing adequate support to veterans.
Scholarship applications can be submitted until April 3rd. This programme has a total budget of US$ 1.1 million and covers the different levels of education, from basic to higher education, both in Timor-Leste and abroad. The eligibility criteria include the children of combatants who died during the struggle for national liberation and of combatants benefiting from special subsistence or retirement pensions. For 2024, there are 100 places for each municipality, making a total of 1,300 places for all levels of education.
