On the 2^nd of August, Paulo Assis Belo, the Vice Minister of Education, in the capacity of interim Minister of Education, launched the Intensive Training Course for Timorese Teachers, in Oe-Cusse Ambeno. The training activity will take place between the 2^nd and the 21^st of August, for a range of 1500 teachers of all districts and is given by 310 Timorese and 40 Portuguese trainers.

The interim Minister of Education pointed out the importance of this action aimed at teachers, that has a double objective: ”besides continuing to elevate the level of knowledge of our teachers in teaching languages which – according to our Constitution and our Base Law  for Education, are Portuguese and Tétum – this training will also give pay special attention to the content of the Curriculum, in relation with teaching and learning contents”.

Paulo Assis Belo also highlighted the support given by Portugal and Brazil, who made available the trainers for this activity, and which will cost the Timorese Ministry of Education around 500 thousand American dollars.
