The Vice-Minister of Economy and Development, Cristiano da Costa, considers that “the Timorese are the principal contributors of national development and the Government is only the manager, regulator, facilitator of the process. The participants, the stakeholders of the economic development process are society’s citizens”.
Cristiano da Costa thus sends a message of courage to the people of Timor-Leste, alerting to the fact that time and commitment are essential factors for progress. “We need time. Development should be done in phases, progressively, depending a lot on two resources: natural resources and principally, human resources”. The Vice-Minister also underlines, two important and priority factors for the drafting of any macroeconomic policy, that are national political stability and minor capital.
“Therefore, economic development process is a progressive process, it is a slow process that needs the contribution of all Timorese” concludes the Vice-Minister of Economy and Development, Cristiano da Costa.
