Timor-Leste in the CPLP Conference of the Ministers of Youth and Sport, in Mozambique

Timor-Leste participates, in Maputo, Mozambique capital, in the Conference of the Ministers responsible for the Youth and Sport of the community of Speaking Portuguese Countries (Portuguese acronym CPLP) meeting.

These meetings were established in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, in 2008, year when the CPLP ministers responsible for the Youth and Sport met for the first time “in a new era of conferences about the this issue” qualified the General-Director of the Secretariat of State of Youth and Sport, José Luís de Pádua Oliveira.

In the Final Declaration of the first Conference you can read that “the Ministers responsible for Youth and Sport” of the eight countries that constitute the CPLP “expressed their content for the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste joining the Cooperation Agreement in the Youth and Sport areas, signed in Mindelo city, in Cape Verde”, in 2007.

The CPLP eight (Brazil, Angola, Cape Verde, Guinea-Bissau, Mozambique, Portugal, São Tomé e Principe and Timor-Leste) through this document, also manifest their “commitment in continuing the multilateral cooperation programme through the approval of new projects that aim to intensify, improve and make efficient the cooperation process”.
