The Government has announced an initiative entitled “Nativity Scene for a Month of Peace”, which aims to reward the best national nativity scenes to promote peace, stability, non-violence and unity in our country.
Open to all of Dili’s Villages (Sucos) and municipal capitals, the competition will allow our people to demonstrate their creativity and express a message of peace through traditional Christmas nativity scenes. Participation is encouraged as a collective gesture in favour of values fundamental to our society’s well-being.
All Dili’s Villages (Sucos) are invited to participate in the competition. The five best nativity scenes will be awarded a monetary prize.
The initiative is extended to all municipalities, where prizes will be awarded for the three best nativity scenes. The competition only covers the capital of each municipality and does not include the other administrative posts.
The nativity scenes will be judged on their creativity, originality and ability to convey the message of peace. Only those villages (Sucos) or municipal capitals that guarantee peace, stability, and non-violence by December 31st will be eligible to receive the award, even if they have already qualified previously.
This initiative aims to celebrate the Christmas festive season and highlight the importance of the fundamental values that contribute to building a harmonious society.
The Government believes that this competition will not only foster the artistic creativity of our population, especially our young people but will also reinforce the commitment of the entire population to contribute to peace and harmony.
We urge everyone to participate actively in this initiative, helping maintain a more united and peaceful country.
