The President of the Republic, José Ramos-Horta started that “Timor-Leste’s presence, for the first time, at a international exposition (in Shanghai, China) elevated Timor-Leste’s name in the world”.

After his arrival, at a press conference at Díli airport, the Head of State praised Timor-Leste’s action: “I present my congratulations to the Government, in particular to the Timor-Leste General-Commissioner for the Expo 2010 Shanghai, China, Agio Pereira, in his quality as the major responsible person of the Timorese group that organized this pavilion, as well as to the advisors and Timorese artists, that knew how to unfold the History pages and Timorese culture in that part of the world. I confess that it was a great success for Timor-Leste in conjugating its efforts and the Government’s commitment in carrying out this International Expo”, praised the Head of State.

The President of the Republic, in the quality of State representative, was present in the Timor-Leste Pavilion on the occasion of the Timor-Leste National Day at the Expo and made a courtesy visit to other pavilions of some countries, taking the opportunity to strengthen the good relationship among these.
