“NSDP reflects the People’s will”

The Prime Minister, Kay Rala Xanana Gusmão underlined that “the National Strategic Development Plan (NSDP) projects a vision of reparation, capacity building and supervision of the State Institutions in 2020, it is something that reflects the People’s will”. The Head of the Government presented this idea during the second day of the NSDP consultation, this time in the Lete-Foho sub-district, Ermera district.

The Prime Minister’s intervention took place after the presentation by the Lete-Foho sub-district Administrator, Américo Soares, who highlighted the demographic and geographic conditions, as well as the political, economical, cultural defense and security ideologies of the areas that integrate the sub-district, as references that may help the Prime-Minister in decision making regarding the mentioned NSDP.

The administrator presented the Lete-Foho sub-district, which has an area of 129 Km2 and a population density of 19 917, divided between 8 sucos and 65 villages. Most of the population lives of agriculture, namely coffee, with harvest times in June, July and August.

After the local authorities’ presentations, the Prime-Minister referred that the People need roads, electricity, better conditions for schools, health centers and housing in good conditions. He also added that the State has the duty to look after the People’s lives since the objective for independence is to provide a better life.

In this NSDP consultation in the Letefoho sub-District the Prime Minister was accompanied by Minister of Health, Nelson Martins, the Vice-Ministro of Finance, Rui Manuel Hanjam, the Secretary of State of Agriculture, Marcos da Cruz, the Secretary of State of Social Assistance and Natural Disasters, Jacinto Rigoberto and the Secretary of State of Environment, Abílio Lima.
