The Secretary of State of Livestock, Valentino Varela, officialized the pilot project for “Raising of Local Chickens” in the Moleana village, Ritabou Suco, Maliana sub-district, on the 11th of June. In the official ceremony chickens and a threshing machine were delivered to the 100 families in the village.

The Secretary of State stated that Moleana village is the first place in Timor-Leste, where the program is being implemented, thus its dynamic and success will become a example for the whole territory. The project’s implementation cost ten thousand dollars, financed by the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries, and the objective is that the program can constitute an important source of income for the local economy.

At the end of the ceremony, Valentino Varela, accompanied by an entourage and Maliana District local authorities, visited the chicken breading area and the new threshing machine.
