9th Government Program endorsed Program with unanimous support in the National Parliament

For two days, the National Parliament appraised and discussed various aspects of the 9th Constitutional Government Programme. Today, July 19th, the debate ended without a Motion of Censure and with the representatives of the parliamentary benches expressing their support without objections to the Programme for the next five years.

The 9th Constitutional Government, legitimised by popular vote and guided by democratic principles and fundamental values of social justice, equality, solidarity and sustainability, presented a comprehensive and ambitious programme to the National Parliament to address existing challenges and promote the country’s progress.

The Government is committed to stimulating investment, enhancing the business fabric and creating quality jobs to boost national economic development.  9th Government Program endorsed Program with unanimous support in the National Parliament

It also commits to improving and strengthening public services, especially in education, health, justice and social security, ensuring universal access to these fundamental rights enshrined in the Constitution.

The Government is firmly committed to beginning the process of developing Greater Sunrise through a pipeline to the South Coast, capable of creating an oil industry, developing human resources and ensuring the sustainability of public finances now and in the future.

In approving this Vote of Confidence, the National Parliament recognises the vital importance of supporting the 9th Constitutional Government in achieving the policies and objectives outlined in its Government Programme.

The Prime Minister, Kay Rala Xanana Gusmão, expressed his gratitude to the National Parliament for the confidence and reiterated his commitment to work tirelessly in the public interest and to honour the mandate given by the majority of citizens in the elections.
