The Vice Minister of Finance, António Freitas, on February 27th, 2023, launched the tests to a weighbridge (weighing platform) for freight vehicles installed at the Integrated Border Post of Batugade, in Bobonaro Municipality.
The testing conducted on the equipment aims to understand the machine’s configurations and operation, to ensure its effectiveness in monitoring the weight of freight vehicles circulating on the border. The weighbridge will make it possible to identify overweight vehicles, which cause damage to the roads and bridges between the border of Batugade and the capital Díli. 
The work was carried out by Mota Loes Unip., costing US$ 139 thousand.
The Vice Minister referred that soon the Ministry of Finance and the Minister of Transport and Communications will present a draft Decree-Law to the Council of Ministers regarding the tariffs to be applied to freight vehicles according to the weight of their cargo.
This weighing infrastructure will also be installed at the Integrated Border Post of Salele, Covalima Municipality and of Sakato, in the Special Administrative Region of Oe-Cusse Ambeno.
