The NSDP will answer to the People necessities

The consultation on the National Strategic Development Plan, carried out by the Prime Minister, Kay Rala Xanana Gusmão, and his entourage, took place in the Manatuto Vila Sub-district, Manatuto District, on the 27th of May of 2010.

The Sub-district administrator, António da Silva, made a presentation to the Head of Government, on the difficulties faced by the population, namely: housing and roads conditions, lack of potable water, electricity and clinics. He also presented a proposal for the creation of a mini-market, in the Suco, for the collection of produce from that region. Anther proposal was presented by the Maabat Suco Chief, João da silva, for the creation of an irrigation canal to the rice paddies.

To answer to the necessities felt by the population, the Government will have to opt on the National Strategic Plan that will be developed in short term (2011-2015), medium term (2015-2020) and long term (2020-2030)” explained the Prime Minister, also noting that, still during the UNTAET time, in 2001, on his way to the bases, he was able to understand the people’s needs regarding roads, education, health, potable water, housing, electricity, telecommunications and agriculture, among others, and that these needs have dragged through the years, thus his  visit now appears to answer these needs.
