Second Meeting of the Interministerial Commission for Coordinating the Value Chain and Encouraging Local Production

Prime Minister Taur Matan Ruak led, on July 27th, 2022, at the Government Palace, the second meeting of the Interministerial Commission for Coordinating the Value Chain and Encouraging Local Production.

The meeting aimed to discuss and take stock of the progress made in the technical work of the committee supporting this Commission. The challenges and obstacles faced in improving the mechanisms to accelerate the implementation of this programme were also analysed.

The Interministerial Commission was created last May with the mission to present to the Council of Ministers recommendations aimed at the improvement and coherence of public policies, administrative systems and procedures as well as the legal framework for the coordination of the value chain and encouragement of the growth of national production, to achieve the goals and objectives foreseen in the Strategic Development Plan and the Government Program.

The Interministerial Commission is chaired by the Prime Minister and also comprises the Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs, Minister of Tourism, Commerce and Industry, Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries, Minister of Finance, and Minister of Public Works.

The commission has a support committee coordinated by the Chief of Staff of the Prime Minister’s Office and composed of the Directors-General of the ministries within the commission, the commissioners of the Customs Authority and the Tax Authority, and representatives of micro, small, medium-sized and large enterprises and banking institutions.
