MTCI participates in the first meeting on economic matters of the CPLP in Luanda

Friday, April 29th, 2022 - The Minister of Tourism, Commerce and Industry (MTCI), José Lucas do Carmo da Silva, participated, via a virtual platform, in the first CPLP meeting on economic affairs. This “1st Meeting of Ministers of Economic, Trade and Finance Affairs of the CPLP” was chaired by Angola and held in Luanda.

In this meeting, the representatives of each country posed several questions, based on their own experiences. The questions focused on the fact that the world economy has faced many crises in recent years, namely the oil crisis and COVID-19, currently the war between Russia and Ukraine and the fact that the CPLP nations are not geographically located in a single region. This is a difficulty, due to the distance between the various members, but can also be seen as an advantage, since the member countries are integrated and participate in various blocks depending on their geographical position.

The meeting aimed to discuss agreements so that citizens of member countries can travel freely, do business, export, reduce bureaucracy, and find ways to get funding for industry within the CPLP, to facilitate and increase economic growth in the world.

Feasibility studies will be carried out to see what types of financing will be best in the future to further strengthen the economy of each of the countries.

The 8 countries signed an agreement to give continuity to technical services that can find legal mechanisms that give importance and feasibility to the issues decided at this meeting between the CPLP countries.

The meeting was organized by Angola and had hybrid participation (face-to-face and virtual).
