The Timor-Leste Government, through the Ministry of Justice, and the Maliana Catholic Church, through the Maliana Diocese Episcopal representative, Priest Lúcio Norberto de Deus, signed a leasing contract, 6th of May last, related to the house of the Maliana Diocese Bishop.
The Ministrer of Justice, Lúcia Lobato, underlined that “the ministry prepared a leasing contract, at the Diocese’s request, and that contract should been signed before the Maliana Diocese Bishop’s investiture. However the document was received just recently”.
The leasing contract covers two areas, Lahomea with 185 m2 of surface area and Atulaka Raifuso with 872 m2 that belong to the Maliana sub-district, Bobonaro district. This contract has legal effect from the date of its signature,, has the duration of 98 years and the lease has the valour of $1 USD, paid .annually by the tenant (Maliana Diocese).
The Maliana Episcopal representative, Priest Lúcio Norberto de Deus, said “the Maliana Diocese is very proud for the fact that the Government facilitated these localities through the leasing contract”.
For the contract signature, the following were present: the Minister of Justice, the National Director of Land, Property and Land Registry and the Maliana Diocese Episcopal representative.
