World Labour Day

To celebrate World Labour Day, on the 1st of May, the Friendship between Cuba and Timor-Leste Association (FCTLA), in collaboration with the Secretariat of State for Professional Training and Employment (SSPTE) and the Ministry of Health (MH) wanted to inform the people on the success already achieved and at the same time motivate them on the “Service Etos Based on Health Protection in Timor-Leste” through TVTL’s program Hanonin Lisuk and the seminar on the World Labour Day, which took place on the 30th April.

The Government of Timor-Leste, although it has faced several challenges in the reconstruction and national development process, is being noticed by the higher quality services it provides, essentially on priority sectors such as health, education, agriculture, infrastructure, among others. In these areas, the Government, in cooperation with development partners and civil society, demonstrates a will to improve.

These programs will be made through cooperation between these institutions. The initiave is from FCTLA, in cooperation with SSPTE, since it with this institution that worker related issues lie. As the seminar’s theme is “Service Etos Based on Health Protection in Timor-Leste”, the Ministry of Health was also involved in this matter.

The seminar’s objective was to make the workers aware on how to minimize risks they may face at their workplace, since all workers have the right and access to health in their place of labour.

As a sequence to the demand and necessity in Timor-Leste, the Government has high hopes that the celebration of this year’s World Labour Day may change the conscience on “Service Etos Based on Health Protection in Timor-Leste”.
