The Ministry of Higher of Education, Science and Culture published today, February 5th, 2021, the final lists of the admitted candidates to public higher education for academic year of 2021.
A total of 5,582 candidates were admitted to the national public higher education, of which 5,282 entered the National University of Timor-Leste (UNTL) and 300 entered the Polytechnic Institute of Betano (IPB).
In order to promote the principle of equality, two access schemes were established, the general scheme, corresponding to the finalists of the general and technical-vocational secondary education in 2020, and the special regime, which gives opportunity to candidates in an exceptional situation.
In the general scheme, 4,075 students were admitted, of which 3,865 entered the UNTL and 210 the IPB.
Through three categories – opportunity, descendants of veterans and disadvantaged families – 1,507 candidates entered by the special scheme.
In the opportunity category, which includes students who finished high school in previous years, in the last four years, 457 candidates were admitted, 422 in UNTL and 35 in IPB.
In the category referring to the children veterans and martyrs of the fight for national liberation, 661 entered in UNTL and 20 in IPB, totalling 681 candidates admitted.
There were also 248 students, children from disadvantaged families, who entered, 228 in UNTL and 20 in IPB.
