President of the Republic renews State of Emergency for another 30 days

The President of the Republic, Francisco Guterres Lú Olo, after the Government’s request, decreed today, December 3rd, 2020, the renewal of the state of emergency, for another 30 days, between December 4th, 2020, 00:00 a.m., and January 2nd, 2020, 11:59 p.m.

The Government decided, at the Council of Ministers meeting, on November 25th, 2020, to propose the State of Emergency’s renewal, for another thirty days, to the President of the Republic. After the State Council and Defence and Security Superior Council positive opinions, the National Parliament authorized, this morning, in Plenary, the President of the Republic to declare the state of emergency’s renewal for the eighth time, since the appearance of the COVID-19 pandemic.

On the same day, the Government, in a Council of Ministers’ meeting, approved the state of emergency’s implementing measures.

In Timor-Leste, since the beginning of the pandemic, there have been a total of 31 new Coronavirus confirmed cases, of which 30 have already recovered and there is one active case.

The number of people infected with SARS-CoV-2 in the world has already exceeded 64,8 million and almost 1.5 million people died from COVID-19.
