The organization of the Dili International Dialogue believes that the concerns and challenges shared by Fragile States during the meeting held in Dili between April 9-10, should be a priority in the current Global Political Agenda.
In a speech delivered during the opening session of the meeting, Bella Bird, the UK representative and co-organizer of the event, defended that “all the objectives that come out of this meeting should constitute a platform for consensus in order to create an action plan for the “g7+” between the Dili meeting and the High Level Forum scheduled for Seoul in October 2011.”
According to the this representative from the United Kingdom, the “Dili Declaration” may represent a unique opportunity for the States considered fragile to “make their voices heard, expressing each and every one’s sincere concerns and priorities” and bring these challenges to world forums, enabling a new political momentum for them”.
Bella Bird also emphasized the enthusiasm shown by all those who, during the last few months, worked hard to make this process of organizing the Dili International Dialogue meeting a successful one.
he organization believes that the World will be keen to look differently at this “work plan” prepared by the fragile States and believes that the processes of State and Peace building, in each of the countries represented in Dili, will be positively influenced by this meeting.
