Meeting of the Interministerial Commission for the Coordination of Prevention and Control Measures of the COVID-19

The Prime Minister, Taur  Matan  Ruak, presided today, April 10, 2020, at the Dili Convention Center (CCD), a meeting of the Interministerial Coordination Commission for the implementation of prevention measures and control of the new Coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2) with the coordinators of the Situation Room of the Integrated Crisis Management Centre. The meeting was attended by all members of the Government.

During the meeting, the coordinators of the Situation Room, of the Integrated Crisis Management Center, presented to the Interministerial Commission the assessment of the general situation in the country and the results of measures to prevent and combat SARS-CoV-2, implemented during the first fourteen days of the state of emergency.

The Situation Room Coordinators also presented the four operational objectives to maintain or reduce the spread rate of COVID-19: ensuring adequate quarantine for all citizens arriving in Timor-Leste and people who have had contact with positive cases of SAR-CoV-2; identification of suspected cases, laboratory tests and isolation of covid-19 positive cases; preparation of isolation and treatment sites, at the level of the acquisition of equipment, medicines and facilities, mobilization and training of human resources; and strengthening containment measures, such as personal hygiene, social and physical distancing, and voluntary confinement.

During the meeting, the coordinators of the Situation Room, informed the members of the Government that the patient infected with the new Coronavirus, registered on March 21, is already without symptoms and that after two tests with negative result received medical discharge and will now be quarantined for fourteen days at home.

It was also announced a new positive case, of a citizen who entered the country, on April 1, via the land border and was in quarantine in one of the places of mandatory confinement created by the Government. This patient has mild symptoms and is now in isolation. All persons who have contacted the patient are being identified for COVID-19 diagnostic tests.
