The President of the Board of Directors of the Port Authority of Timor-Leste I.P (APORTIL), Flávio Cardoso Neves (APORTIL), assured yesterday, March 30, 2020, through an Order, that the Port of Dili will remain in operation throughout the duration of the state of emergency.
The services of the Port of Dili are essential and will support the country and the basic needs of all citizens, ensuring the supply of essential goods during the state of emergency.
The Order of the President of APORTIL lists the set of rules that will manage activity of the Port of Dili, during the state of emergency, which includes security measures and prevention of COVID-19.
It should be noted that the Government Decree, which approves the measures implementing the declaration of the state of emergency, ensures that the services “whose provision are essential to ensure the functioning of the Public Administration and the citizens and businesses of goods and services which are of an urgent nature and which cannot be delayed”.
This Government Decree also states that “foreigners responsible for the transport or release of imported goods may only remain in the international zone of seaports, airports or land border posts and at least time strictly necessary for the completion of the procedures for the delivery or release of goods”.
