On May 29 and 30, members of the Government will gather in the meeting room of the Prime Minister’s Office for the second retreat of the Eight Constitutional Government.
The main objectives of the meeting are to discuss the activities carried out since the beginning of the mandate, to set the priorities for 2020, taking into account the preparation of the State Budget for 2020.
The members of the Executive will also discuss the priorities and strategic reforms to be implemented in the three years from 2020 to 2023.
The General State Budget for fiscal year 2020 is already being prepared, and on June 27 and 28, 2019, the Budget priorities are scheduled to be discussed at the Seminar “Budget Days”, an annual meeting that marks the beginning of the budgeting process. This meeting seeks to define the National Priorities for the Budget, in a coordinated and appropriate manner for the planning and implementation of the Strategic Development Plan 2011-2030, of the Sustainable Development Objectives, the Eight Constitutional Government Program and of the Annual Action Plans.
The Budget spending ceiling for 2020 is expected to be approved by the Council of Ministers on July 10 and the final proposal is expected to be approved at the executive meeting on September 18. The plan is to send the budget to the National Parliament on October 15, for analysis by the MPs and to prepare the discussion and approval in Plenary set to occur in December 2019.
